Welcome to the creative world of Luma Layer Creations! If you've ever browsed our collection of original children's books, you might have noticed a deliciously funny running theme among our characters. From a gecko with a salty attitude to a spunky leader of the pack, our stories are brought to life by names you'd typically find in your kitchen pantry.

So, what’s the secret recipe behind these unique names? The inspiration comes directly from the author's daughter, who has a wonderfully creative habit of naming characters after food ingredients! It’s a quirky, playful touch that makes our stories feel incredibly personal and endearing.

Let’s take a look at a few of our fan-favorite books that feature this adorable naming tradition:

Wasabi: Queen of the Bark

Just like the spicy green condiment she's named after, Wasabi brings a zesty, undeniable kick to the story. This book is full of vibrant energy and shows that a little bit of spice can make life a whole lot more interesting. It’s a fantastic read for kids with big, bold personalities who aren't afraid to stand out.

Vanilla Bean Finds Her Shine

Sweet, classic, and comforting—Vanilla Bean is a character who instantly warms the heart. In Vanilla Bean Finds Her Shine, readers follow along on a gentle, inspiring journey of self-discovery. It’s a beautiful reminder for little ones that even the quietest, softest ingredients can be the star of the recipe when they find their inner light.

Spam the Not-So-Sweet Gecko

Not every character can be made of sugar and spice! Spam the Not-So-Sweet Gecko introduces a wonderfully grumpy, slightly salty little reptile who adds his own unique flavor to the world. It’s a hilarious and relatable read that proves even the most unconventional ingredients have their own special charm.

Next time you open up a Luma Layer Creations book with your little ones, keep an eye—and an appetite—out for these fun names. We absolutely love that a simple, playful idea from a child's imagination has helped shape the heart of our stories.
