The Dragon Reliquary
The Dragon Reliquary — Book One
An Adult Gothic Fantasy Novel by Amanda Winchester
Everyone knows the dragons are dead. Everyone is wrong.
For seven hundred years, the people of Mournvale have built their civilization around the remains of eight ancient dragons, harnessing their mysterious Echo to power a kingdom.
But when relic conservator Mara Veyne discovers impossible activity within a sacred Reliquary, her investigation leads her to a dangerous fugitive, a history built on lies, and a truth powerful enough to unravel everything.
Blending ancient mysteries, gothic fantasy, forbidden magic, and slow-burn romance, The Dragon Reliquary is a haunting journey into a world where some secrets were buried for a reason—and some legends were never truly dead.

THE DRAGON RELIQUARY — Book One
Eight Great Dragons sleep beneath Mournvale. Everyone knows the stories. Mara Veyne is about to discover they were never the whole truth.
Field Conservator Mara Veyne has built her life around the preservation of history. Evidence can be studied. Artifacts can be cataloged. The past, however incomplete, can be reconstructed from what it leaves behind.
But when Mara encounters evidence that contradicts the history she has been trained to protect, one troubling discovery becomes a question no one seems willing to answer.
What if Mournvale's history wasn't forgotten? What if someone deliberately erased it?
Her search draws her toward Silas Rook, a former Keeper and Waker who knows far more about the Reliquaries—and the institutions surrounding them—than he should. Following the evidence means venturing beyond accepted history and into secrets powerful people have spent generations protecting.
Because the eight dragons beneath Mournvale are sleeping.
They are not gone.
Their consciousness still reaches into the world through the mysterious Echo. Ancient Reliquaries preserve connections to a past humanity may have fundamentally misunderstood. And the deeper Mara digs, the more she encounters traces of something that has no place in the history she knows.
Something missing from the records.
Something deliberately forgotten.
A Ninth Watcher.
Mara has spent her career preserving the past. Now she must decide what happens when preserving the truth could threaten the world built upon its absence.
And somewhere beyond everything humanity believes it understands, something ancient has finally noticed her.
“Little Witness.”
“You took your time.”
The Dragon Reliquary is the first book in an epic fantasy series filled with ancient dragons, mysterious artifacts, buried history, dangerous knowledge, morally complicated choices, and a richly constructed world where truth may prove far more dangerous than the lies that replaced it.
Some histories are lost. Others are buried deliberately.
